Expectations At Eisenhower Academy of Global Studies we expect our students to cooperate, accept responsibility, respect self and others, expect to learn, and to show self control because Eisenhower CARES! Our school community believes that all students can learn, and should maximize all learning experiences possible. Parental involvement is an integral part in developing relationships within the school community. Description Established in 2005, Eisenhower Academy of Global Studies is a public charter school educating children of all races, faiths and economic backgrounds in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Enrollment is approximately 570 students. Faculty All teachers hold a Bachelor’s Degree or higher, teachers are state-certified or working towards state-certification, and all teachers participate in the nationally recognized Teacher Advancement Program (TAP). Ancillary Services Our school has a full time nurse, social worker, school counselor, speech pathologist, physical therapist, occupational therapist, and adaptive physical education teacher. Curriculum Eisenhower Academy of Global Studies utilizes the Louisiana Comprehensive Curriculum (LCC) that includes: reading, writing, language arts, math, social studies, science, and physical education. Student progress is assessed and reported by way of four quarterly report cards, the LEAP 21 standardized test (4th and 8th grades), iLEAP standardized test (3rd, 5th, 6th, and 7th grades), Dibels testing (Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades), and benchmark assessments. Global studies are currently being integrated through technology, the arts, and curriculum within the classroom. Success for All (SFA) Reading, Phonics Blitz, and Project Grad Math are used to support the LCC. Classrooms are equipped with computers and interactive Promethean Boards. There are also mobile computer labs at each grade level, and a desktop computer lab for formal computer instruction. Special Education Services Services are offered for Academically Gifted, Talented in the Arts (Visual, Theater, and Music), Speech Therapy, and the Inclusive Education Services Model is utilized for those students with special needs. Special Programs 21st Century is an after school program offering homework assistance, tutoring, and enrichment activities such as Young Audiences (visual and performing arts program), Study Island, and Healthy Lifestyles Choices. We also have Mercy Corp. Counseling, Project Fleur-de-lis Counseling, and Positive Behavior Support (PBS). Extra-curricular Activities
