Fischer Accelerated Academy is to transform at risk students into well-rounded confident high achieving productive individuals. • It is our mission to work along with parents and the community, to foster each child’s full potential, build each child’s self-esteem, and empower each child to become a responsible, respectful and contributing citizen. Curriculum and Instruction • Louisiana Comprehensive Curriculum provides the foundation for our instruction • W.J. F. Accelerated Academy offers state of the art technology and practices that enhances teaching and learning. • Each classroom is equipped with interactive promethean boards, desktop computers, and access to mobile labs. • We focus on differentiating instruction to target various learning styles and abilities of our students. • As TAP (Teacher Advancement Program) school, we recognize that the effectiveness of teacher classroom instruction is greatly correlated to student achievement. • TAP provides regular professional development embedded within the school day for teachers to learn research-based strategies that will increase student achievement. Partnerships • As part of our effort to offer students more opportunities for enrichment, we maintain a partnership with : • Young Audiences, a national organization which is dedicated to excellence in arts education. • Brian Macon Foundation, • Berean Bible Church, • Charlotte Country Day School in Charlotte, • North Carolina, • Tipitina’s, • Communities in Schools. Programs/Extra-curricular activities W. J. F. Accelerated Academy offers a multitude of after school activities such as: • Majorettes, • Band, • Cheerleading, • Dance team, • Volleyball, • Football, • Basketball • Staff sponsored clubs and organizations. • Free after school tutoring for students in grades 3rd through 8th, • Free aftercare services for prekindergarten students. |
