Our History

Tucked away in Old Algiers, McDonogh #32 Charter School is a treasured New Orleans tradition. It was founded as one of the first schools for African-American children. It has a storied history, with many families choosing to send their students here for generations. In 2005, the school was officially made part of Algiers Charter. And following Hurricane Katrina, it was among the schools that sustained minimal damage and opened its doors to students in the following months.
