New Orleans,
LA – The Algiers Charter Schools Association announced at
its June 23rd Board Meeting that it had selected Donna St. Louis
to fill the seat on the board made vacant after the resignation
of New Orleans Public Schools Vice-President Lourdes Moran.
Ms. St. Louis
applied to the board during the initial process, but despite leaving
a distinct impression on the Board Nominating Committee came up
just short. The second time proved to be the charm.
“I am
so pleased to join the ACSA board,” said Ms. St. Louis. “I
have devoted my professional life to the education of children,
and I believe I bring a combination of skills to the table that
make me uniquely qualified to serve on the Board of Trustees.”
Board Member
Elsie Rose served on the nominating committee, “We felt it
was important to have a seventh member in place before we decided
some of the major issues facing this board. We believe we have picked
a very qualified person who will be an asset to us.”
Ms. St. Louis
is a retired educator with over 20 years experience in the Jefferson
Parish Public Schools. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Elementary
Education from LSU with a Masters in Education from Loyola University
of the South and additional hours with a concentration in Reading,
Special Education and Educational Administration.
She has also
served on the Algiers Economic Development Foundation’s Tourism
Committee, and worked with the Algiers Historical Society, The Tall
Timbers Homeowners Association, and numerous other community and
professional organizations.
