As part of a tour of the Gulf Coast Region to meet with the children
affected by Hurricane Katrina, actress/singer Hilary Duff will be
visiting two schools in Algiers on Tuesday August 29th, the one
year anniversary of the devastating storm.
Ms.
Duff will visit Alice Harte Charter Elementary School, located at
5300 Berkley Drive at 11:45 AM where she will serve lunch to students.
She
will follow that up with a visit to Edna Karr Charter Secondary
School, located at 3332 Huntlee Drive from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
“We
are excited to have Hilary Duff visit with our children”,
said Anna Faye Marciante, Principal at Harte. “Tuesday is
going to be a very emotional day for all of us, and to give the
students an opportunity to focus on something positive is a real
gift.”
The
Algiers Charter Schools were among the first to open in New Orleans
in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and currently serve over 4,000
students from throughout New Orleans.
